Im August 1783 scheiterte vor Palau nicht die 'Panther', wie in der Rezension (und vielleicht auch der besprochenen Veröffentlichung) behauptet wird, sondern die 'Antelope'. Dies und die nachfolgenden Ereignisse wurden dargestellt in: An account of the Pelew Islands, situated in the western part of the Pacific Ocean: composed from the journals and communications of Captain Henry Wilson, and some of his officers, who, in August 1783, were there shipwrecked, in the Antelope, a packet belonging to the Hon. East India Company / by George Keate. London: G. Nicol, 1788.

Die 'Panther' kam erst 1791 nach Palau. Dies wird im Folgeband der o.g. Veröffentlichung beschrieben: A supplement to The account of the Pelew Islands: compiled from the journals of the Panther and Endeavour, two vessels sent by the Honourable East India Company to those islands in the year 1790, and from the oral communications of Captain H. Wilson / by John Pearce Hockin. London: for Cpt. Henry Wilson by W. Bulmer, 1803.

Vielen Dank für die Berichtigung des auf S. 3 von Smiths Buch auftauchenden Fehlers. Bei der Darstellung von Captain Wilsons Schiffbruch als Grundlage von (u. a. freundschaftlichen) Kontakten zwischen den Bewohnern von Palau und Europäern wird sein Schiff korrekt als 'Antelope' identifiziert (213).
